Dartmoor
Ghosts wander across Dartmoor: people talk of a spectral funeral procession on the road outside of Widecombe (or is that Moretonhampstead?), the cloaked figure at Beetor Cross, the clash of sword against shield and the cries of the wounded left to die on some ancient battleground, but really, a landscape as marked by history as Dartmoor’s doesn’t need legends. Walking across the moors you take it for granted that a phantom watches after you with a mournful but disinterested gaze.
